The Rubelli company, founded in Venice in 1858 by Lorenzo Rubelli, is unique in many ways. It produces high-tech textiles using modern computerised equipment and, at the same time, makes exclusive handmade fabrics on antique looms.

Rubelli supplies fabrics for the royal families of Spain, Great Britain, Oman, Saudi Arabia and the Netherlands.

For more than a century factory Rubelli creates copies of ancient fabrics from archive documents, combining the technology of ancient weaving and the latest technical developments. Rubelli has a rich archive with thousands of samples of fabrics of different styles, trends and times.

Rubelli uses natural silk, linen, cotton and wool fibres, sometimes blended with high quality artificial fibres such as Novafil, Bemberg or viscose for its fabrics.

The company produces flame retardant textiles with Trevira CS for commercial interiors. Amazing design makes these functional, specialised fabrics true works of art. They adorn cruise liners and hotels of major hotel chains such as Sheraton, Hilton, Intercontinental and others.

A rich archive of documents and samples of vintage fabrics serves as a constant source of ideas for the development of new collections, as well as allowing for special customised orders. For example, Rubelli twice, in 1977 and 2005, renewed the upholstery of the boxes and seats and the textile design of the La Scala theatre, and participated in the restoration of the interiors of the La Fenice theatre after a fire.
