Theodore Alexander
Theodore Alexander is an American manufacturer of exclusive furniture and decor, specialising in English classics. The brand was founded in 1996 by Paul Maitland Smith, an industry legend and distinguished specialist in antiques.
Smith is a great history buff and owner of another furniture brand, Maitland Smith, which produces 18th- and 19th-century style furniture and accessories. The passion that became his life's work led to the creation of Theodore Alexander. Today the factory employs about 4000 first-class specialists.
Theodore Alexander is famous thanks to the incredible craftsmanship of cabinetmakers, who recreate the most exquisite pieces of furniture in different historical styles.
The iconic collection of the factory is Althorp Living History, which includes replicas of interiors of the English castle of Althorp (Northamptonshire), the Spencer family estate. Princess Diana lived here before moving to London.
Althorp's wooden furniture is handmade from rare and even precious woods: ginger, amburana caerensis, tulipwood and more. Great attention is paid to detail: fittings, finishes, carvings, finishes, jewellery inlays, intarsia and marquetry are made using antique techniques.
Theodore Alexander does not limit itself to historical allusions and deals with modern furniture, too. Some of today's most prominent designers are involved, including Alexa Hampton and Jamie Drake.
